A question about the sim and vis.

Postby Mike » 19 Feb 2005, 13:33

Hi all. (my english are not so good)

After reading on this forum i think i understand that you can´t do a "show" on the simulator and "play" it in the visualiser whithout that "donglee"?

Correct?

Greetings from Sweden, /Mike.

You can only use the 'demo theatre' without the dongle. This will let you try out the software, but you can't set up your own fixtures/patch.

Download visualiser Demo Theatre from here:
http://www.avolitesdownload.com/Downloa ... heatre.exe
Extract the archive.

Run Simulator.
(Should be in Program Mode)
[Disk]
Load show:
Find your Avolites install dir. Then Vis/Theatres/Demo/Showdisk1

Run Visualiser
File/Open Theatre...
Find the demotheatre.ttr that you extracted.
Make sure you are in 'run' mode (Edit/Run)
In the DMX box, left hand side, select 'Simulator'

Now you can control the demo theatre from the sim.
You cannot edit the theatre in vis, but you can play with the pearl sim as much as you want!

Erm. Dunno!

This is one for Olie.

Pls post your system specs - OS, memory, CPU.

I have a dongle, so I can't confirm if it's related to not having one, if you get my drift. You might want to try a wipeall first (do this in the sim in the same way you would on the real desk)

Maybe you have your show data files corrupted from an earlier simulator show openning attempt.

These two files are called simpearlavo.sys and simpearlmempool.sys and will be normally located on XP under C:\Documents and Settings\"your profile"\Local Configuration\Temp\

These files contain the information of the last loaded show on the simulator, but if they are anyway corrupted you will be unable to run the program thus being unable also to load any other show.

You can directly delete these two files (with the simulator "off", of course) and the next time you run the simulator it will start from scratch; then you should be allowed to load a new show.

Good luck
