Connect Pearl 2000/2004 to visualiser

Postby nflutter » 17 Oct 2012, 20:47

I've just acquired a Pearl 2000 with 2004 software and am trying to connect it to Visualiser without joy, I have connected a USB/Midi cable and have changed the the Midi setting to 'Visualiser' in user settings on the desk, all I get is the the heads doings random things in visualiser and I have no control over them. Also in Visualiser at the bottom of the screen it says 'serial comm bad handle error'. Firstly the cable.... will a USB Midi cable work as none of my computers have a serial port and even if they did I can't find one of these cables to buy, any ideas where I can get one or anywhere I can get a pinout to make one? Also what about ACDI, is this needed to connect an Avolites console to Avoilites Visualiser?

any help appreciated.

Cheers

You must use a MIDI to serial cable, wired as shown here. To connect to a computer that does not have a serial port you can use a Usb to serial converter. Avolites suggests Lindy.

You will also need ACDI. Note that this does not work on Win 7 64 bit.
