A couple of questions about ACDI.

Postby DaveH » 27 Sep 2011, 07:09

Can I download ACDI and then use a ethernet cable as a crossover to run simulator on one computer and visualizer on another? Are any additional hardware components necessary?

What's the process for connecting my laptop with visualiser running to a pearl expert running titan software?

Yes, this works perfectly well.

- download, install, and run ACDI on the visualizer PC. You'll need to register, though, please contact your local Avo team for registering
- then, do the correct DMX settings in the simulator (i.e. Universe 1 = ACDI 1)
- the process for a real desk is pretty much the same
- well, in case of a simulator, if you could connect another display to your computer, you might run the visualiser and the simulator on one PC, without the need for separate ACDI
- iirc, ACDI doesn't run on 64bit systems (only so you know)

Some things to add:

Both devices need to be in the same subnet (ie. 192.168.1.x) etc.

ACDI must be set to 'Ethernet' (there aren't many options!)

Visualiser must be set to 'Simulator'.

When ACDI is receiving correctly it will show a green box. If you don't see this check network and dmx settings.

And finally:

the desk doesn't recognize which unverses might be received via ACDI by the external PC. Hence, in DMX settings, you need to set 'ACDI broadcast' as output node, and set the ip address of that node(s) manually (it will default to a broadcast address depending on your network settings - just replace it with the correct IP address of the computer).

Shout if you need more hints.
