Studio Due CS 4

Postby avonewbee » 27 Sep 2008, 04:25

Hi folks,

want to setup a Studio Due CS 4 Fuxture on the Visu, but how to handle?
There are a lot of CS 4 Versions in the dropdown menue
for example:
SD_CS4_M1_1
SD_CS4_M1_2
SD_CS4_M1_3
SD_CS4_M1_4
SD_CS4_M2_1
SD_CS4_M2_2
..
..
..

but which one is the right one for 20 Channel operation.

When I create one of these, only 1 "Lamphead" appears,
but CS 4 has 4 "Lampheads".

So how to handle that stuff?
Any help would be appreciated

Hi.

I am no expert on the visualiser , but as far as i know the program only got one model for moving heads (including generics) and one for moving mirrors. The CS4 falls under the moving head category and got the same model as any other fixture in this category , aka 1 "lamphead".

About the drop down menu... the SD probably got several different modes of operation. There is no manual on their webpage and I have never used the fixtures so i dont know how the fixture behave in the different modes. My guess would be that in one mode they got all settings common, the other one they got common dimming and pan + seperate pan, while in the last they got seperate dimming and pan , but still common pan due to the design of the unit.

With a bit of logic i guess anybody could understand that the last number in each mode name is reffering to what "lamphead" its simulating.

So here is my solution to making it work :

In design mode :

File-> Import Report -> objects -> 4bar (no the dimentions are not the same but this is way faster)
Now you got 4 genetic lamps
Select one of them and change fixture type to SD_CS4_M1_1 or what ever mode you want it to run in.
Select next one and change fixture type to SD_CS4_M1_2
Do this with all 4, run them all on the same start adress.
Group them ... you should now have a SD CS4 unit that you can drag around like it was one unit.

Hope this helps and works, I have not had time to try it myself yet.
