I have a LeMaitre Radiance Haze machine, and discovered that there were in fact personalities for it in the library for my Pearl 2000 desk.
In all my years with DMX smoke machines, I have always just patched the smoker to one or two of my dimmer channels (HTP), and not really messed with it more than that.
Are there any reasons I would want to patch it in as a fixture instead?
Looking for advice - Using haze machine as fixture?

I agree with niclights; hazers should be setup as LTP. That way you can set your level once before the show and don't have to bother it again for the rest of the show.
We've got some 2 channel unique hazer (fan/smoke) for which I made LTP fixtures, works excellent.
By the way, I usually patch hazers and stuff like that on page 2 and make a fixture group 99 from them for access.

Thanks for the feedback. I tried this on my LeMaitre Radiance hazer this morning, and although I wasn't able to find a control for "fan speed", only a generic "haze" control, I like the ability to dial it in and set it like you are saying. (This is a 2 channel hazer, one channel for fan speed and one for haze output.)
I will play more with it over the weekend and get used to it, but I think I like it already.

You could even make a few pallets for low-med-high smoke output and/or fan speed. But the most hazers I use are better to be left alone once you've found the correct output level.
