Martin RoboColor2 Personality

I want to make a separate personality file for each head of a Martin Robocolor 2 set. (see the current personality file @ avolites.com for more details on the channels)
I have 2 options:
Personality File A = Lamp Control + Head 1 Color
Personality File B = Head 2 Color
Personality File C = Head 3 Color
Personality File D = Head 4 Color + Speed
(all personality files have consecutive DMX-channels, so no problems except that the speed is not on the same handle as the lamp control)
OR
Personality File A = Lamp Control + Head 1 Color + Speed
Personality File B = Head 2 Color
Personality File C = Head 3 Color
Personality File D = Head 4 Color
(but this means that personality file A has non consecutive DMX-channels... with unused channels in the middle that have to be used by the other personalities... )
-> Is this configurable with the "K" parameter in the "Device Type" part of the personality file? Or is this feature not supported? Will I get problem with this kind of overlapping personalities?
-> My overall goal is to have each head on a separate handle to be able to run shapes over all heads with an offset between them...
Greetz,
W

If you're not limited by handles I would be tempted to have six separate where lamp on/off is a simple dimmer. This also gives an option of having speed as HTP dimmer also.
Alternatively you could have five handles where four are single channel LTP (head colour) and the fifth is control + speed. Here you can define the dimmer as pending and then patch it separately on top. This should avoid any issues with non-consecutive channels.
Combining lamp on one and speed on another seems like it would be confusing. I'd only do this if handles were limited to four.

How do you define channels as pending inside a personality file? To be able to patch others on top?

Dimmer attribute only. IIRC you set DMX offset to zero. Check something like a VL1000 for example.

I'd go for option3,
5 handles / 2 personalityfiles
Personality A: Controller (has lamp Control as fixed channel, and speed as pending dimmer)
Personality B: Head (has 1 single color channel)
First you patch the controller, then the head and finally the pending dimmer.

You sure you want colour as HTP?
Posted: 02 Apr 2008, 22:53
by WouterVerlinden
Yes... On the Roboscan 812 which I also use frequently this is also configured like this.... this gives me the possibility to "shut" the individual heads with clear or submaster down....
The control-channel is only usefull to shut all heads together, and less flexible...
Any other remarks?
Thanx,
W

I have no access to the fixtures before the show-day....
I will just count on goodluck then.... and bring laptop with me to modify the personality if luck fails...
Thanx,
Wouter

And yes.... there was a bug....
The values in the preset/focus-table where declared in decimal format instead of hexadecimal format....
Found it out while programming the show and corrected it directly on my laptop...

Can I send these personalities to a E-Mail-address to have them added to the personality database?

Probably best to make a request via database.
