Azure questions

Postby DMikeW » 20 Jan 2008, 15:27

Got my new Azure on Friday and I've been playing around with it since but have a couple of questions that I can't find the answers to. They are:

* how do you do you change the displayed channel values from % to 0-255 dmx values?
* How do you get the function values to be displayed on the wheels, for example color: White, Red, Blue, Green etc?

thanks in advance for your help,
Mike

You can toggle %/0-255 via input menu/softbutton G.

I'm not sure if range table attribute display is implemented in the Azure. This was a 2004 development on the Pearl and toggled using quick key 1 ([shift]+numeric 1) - referred to as 'intelligent' and 'raw'.

Another Question

Postby DMikeW » 21 Jan 2008, 10:37

I'm wondering if the following is normal behaviour for the desk:

I select a fixture, use the attribute buttons i.e pan/tilt to set the look, save the look to a memory and then when I hit the flashing clear button nothing changes - the fixtures are in exactly the same state as before pressing clear. I have to reselect the fixture and manually go through each attribute and reset it to 0 before presing clear again in order to start with a clean slate.

That is correct. It is because the attributes are LTP (latest takes precedence). The manual explains the difference between this and HTP (highest takes precedence).

If you want to return all attributes to a basic state use Locate function.

I still can't get the % to be DMX values - I must be missing something somewhere, can you make it real easy for me?

Well, I've never used an Azure, but the software should be the same as Pearl and manual confirms, so procedure on Pearl would be:

Press a numeric key.

This changes softbutton menu options.

'G' should be toggle input value.

However, now I think about it you might be referring to the display, rather than numeric input?

For display I'm not sure if you can. 2004 soft was updated to show real values in brackets above wheels, but no way to show in main screen other than through View/DMX Patch.
Something in the back of my mind says there was a view that did present in raw form in 2000 soft, but can't find it or any reference. Maybe someone else can remember?

Anyway, if that's what you meant there is no harm in cycling through various view options to see.

A serious question then;

How much would it cost to implement range tables, dmx values and the USB interface on the Azure?

I can't imagine it being that much as these functions have been implemented on other desks using the same "motherboard", haven't they?

If it was resonable enough I'd pay for it as it would improve the desk.

Also, (yes I'm new to the desk, have training booked for April but want to play with it now) is it correct that once you add a shape to a memory you can no longer change the spead and size of that instance?

again thanks for help given,
regards,
Mike

You'll have to speak direct to Avo about your software Q, but I doubt it's an option.

On a Pearl you can control size/speed by playback fader. To do this you set playback to mode2 via [edit times]. You define what is controlled via Shape Gen/Playback Parameters (timed/static).
