Pearl 2K - Execution steps via MIDI

Postby MHelden » 12 Jul 2004, 12:39

Hi

Console: Pearl 2000
Firmware: 8 march 2004 Build 8

I'm having trouble execution steps within a chase when the chase is activated via MIDI.
If I raise the fader the chase executes step by step ( in total 7 steps in 32 seconds )
In above case I see the steps executing one by one on the VDU monitor

But if I have the chase started by a MIDI command on the VDU monitor I
see all the 7 steps appear on screen and right away they disappear again. None of the steps are executed.

So when controlled via MIDI, within a second the steps show up on the VDU monitor and disappear again.

Is this a known problem or a setup issue ??

Your help is much appreciated

On the VDU Monitor I see a code 90 (note on) comming in, followed by a midi code 80 (note off). So I guess my PC (using cubase sx) is sending a "note off" incorrectly.

found it

I found it.

Maybe logical for you guys but for me, absolutly new to Midi it wasn't
But the following line in the release notes trigged me :

- A Note OFF can now be used to kill a playback

My NOTE commands were to short

To start playback fader 1, for instance, I send Note C2 with a value of 127
( Playback fader 1 to Full ) with a length of 0.1 seconds.

Later I send a Note C2 with a value of 0 (to kill playback fader 1) with a length with 0.1 seconds.

Between the two commands the playback will execute, so I thought. But
at the end of the first 0.1 seconds a Note off is send, which kills the
playback right away.

Now I'v changed the length of first Note command to the length of the entire chase. So now it works.
