I'm operating a new pearl2008. I'm not quite sure which softwareversion it got.

When I run my show in Runmode Normal it is not possible to recall palettes using the grey focus buttons. I understand that the number recall functions well in Runmode Normal but it is quite slow.

However I have discovered that the grey focus buttons work well in Runmode Takeovermode. But here I have meet problems when standing in the attributebank Dimmmer. If i accendetial have turned the "dimmer wheel" the intensety fader does not respond when pulling it down. I'm well aware that this is because I'm in takeovermode and the change ofcause affect the certain attribute which is not saved

My question is simply.
How do I use the grey focus buttons in Runmode Normal
Or how do I make my show in takeovermode not having to worry weather my intensity fader will respond or not

It is not possible to recall palettes by preset add in Run Mode Normal. This is by design - in this mode you have standard flash and solo functions on add/swop buttons instead.

To avoid the problem there are two solutions:

You can enable Quick Palettes in User Settings. This will allow palettes to recall without selecting fixtures. For this to be suitable you must program palettes to be specific to one fixture or at least designed with the intention to recall for all stored within it. You can still select fixtures and apply specifically should you wish but, by avoiding fixture selection, wheels cannot be assigned to attribute control.

However, it is a compromise over available palettes (remember you can page palettes by Fixture Page button - enable User Option 'Palette Paging'). If you must overlay fixtures and select fixtures/groups then you can switch wheel control to speed/xfade through [connect] menu, thus making accidental nudge impossible. Be aware that pressing any attribute button will return wheels to attribute control if fixtures are selected.

Judicious use of [clear] will remove values accidentally placed in programmer at any time but comes with the side-effect of removing fixture selection.

I should point out here that both your problem and the solutions I describe are applicable to either run mode and you would encounter the issue just the same in Normal mode as in Takeover. The rules for palette application, wheel control and how values enter programmer remain identical. The only real difference between modes is the function of add & swop buttons, limiting fixture selection to group and palettes to numeric recall.


Note that there is a cheat: In Run Mode Normal there is a backdoor into legended palette menu by pressing a numeric key and then the [palette] button. From here you can select Page/Recall Palette (including timing). This gives you the option of having one button palettes on softkey while maintaining standard flash/solo control on add/swop.
