New software version?

Postby dombleu » 19 Sep 2007, 03:51

Is there any known roadmap for the next pearl software?

I got a pearl 2008 and i must say that touting that "The Pearl 2008 is a cosmetically updated Pearl 2004 with the addition of USB memory, giving storage for the complete set of personality files as well as multiple show files"

without those features actually working is a little disapointing. :(

Come on guys, surprise me and tell me it is around the corner!

It is around the corner (USB support).

It would be foolish to suggest a date.

Let's hope that Dom is sufficiently surprised

not quite :?

But theses are still good news.

As it is the only genuine pearl in town, people get curious about it. Especially when they see how fast i can program awesome oneniters

But i get i little shy when I get my bunch of floppies out of their sandwich box. Anyway, i feel like a kid waiting for christmas!

Good nite!

It does work and it is very much a priority. But it's not as straight-forward as it might seem and most important it is working 100% correctly before release. Thus the delay.

Floppies will soon have retro value!

(me wonders if we should have speed-programming competitions  )

The other day an 'teen asked me, "what are they?" [floppies].
I felt old. And decided to stop comparing my age with mass storage devices!

USB Support

Postby jlightguy » 30 Sep 2007, 03:35

Greetings! I purchased the Pearl 2008 in January of this year with the same expectations. I keep wondering if the newer consoles (i.e Tiger) are taking proiority and thus pushing the updated Pearl USB functionality to the "back burner".
Just wanted to put my two cents in. I'll keep the rest of my pennies to buy the retro floppy disks! :D

Do you need Beta testers for the Pearl Update?

the tiger doesn't seem to have a floppy drive... maybe the advance of the tiger isn't that bad for usb support after all...

The Tiger & 2008 both have the same software with the same priority to get USB support fully functional and tested reliable. Indeed, as Dombleu suggests, the fact that the Tiger only has USB would be a reason for progress to be even more vital.

So, priority remains high for both.

Makes perfect sense. Obviously I have not done my Tiger research! I just stumbled upon the PLSN write-up for the new console.

Thanks for the update and the info!
