Diamond 4 Elite And D4 Software

So we just got a Diamond 4 Console, and i am trying to hook up my laptop to the console via Ethernet so i can backup the Panel with my computer. I was under the impression that you could comtrol the Diamond Console with a laptop, or something along those lines. Can anyone help me set this up? Im running windows XP and have a pretty good knowledge of windows networking. Thanks

There are two functions with two sets of cables. One is the mimic/tracking backup functions which is what is sent over ethernet. Just put your two computers (console and laptop) in the same network, either use auto IPs or assign them yourself.
You can then set one as slave and one as master and they will track along. I run the internal PC as slave and an external rack mount as the master as it has much more grunt...
You can then connect two usb cables (one for the panel, one for dmx) between the console card and the laptop which well route all the functions of the panel and output to your laptop if you flick the switch to the EXT position.
