Hi there,

Using the Pearl Expert, the first thing I was missing is the Legend-function.
Finally it's possible to store more shows on harddrive! But when loading an old show, I have to write again on that ##^%$&$ rolls..... :(
When is the new software available?

We had the same problem using the same rig with three different shows in each week until we purchased a Sapphire.

Have always loved the Pearl as, for a "busking board" it runs rings around the competition (any one tried plotting a chase on the congo) but the Sapphire has the lovely LCD widows which you can label with the keyboard and of course the same for the Palette recall section which all of course is copied with each show disc.

Have to go back to a Pearl for an open air concert this week in Kent (not our rig or desk) so I am going to miss some of the little nice differences still, could be worse, could having to program and busk on the fly with a Hog.

Joking apart, cannot wait until Avo put some LCD's on the Pearl.

Putting LCD's on the Pearl would take away one of it's key features IMO. I doubt it would ever happen. Give me coloured pens and pictures any day. D4 otherwise ;)

Anyway, that is of course irrelevant. A better implementation of PB legending and neat display on VDU specifically for quickly re-labelling the roller is very much intended AFAIK. I cannot say when this might be but I'm fairly sure it will happen.

Thanks for the comments and opinions. Absolutley right in your "IMO" (took me a minute to work IMO out).

The Pearl we used to tour was great when it was one show but it got a bit messy with three different!

PB writing is fine but it gets a bit tight when you are using all three pages on all three shows in the same week (pretty much one of the deciding reasons we went up to the Sapphire).

As you say, D4 otherwise but then you are talking money and op space which is bums on seats on theatre tours in Europe AKA revenue loss.

Still, end of the day, these are personal skirmishes and agreed irrelevant.

I remember the days when we had to link two Diamonds together at Wembley to get enough dmx. Now you try doing that with a hog and make the desks work togther for a section of the concert for five mins in "busk mode".
