Pearl '08 Theatre Stack - Inserting Preset (Mark) Cues?

Postby jlightguy » 08 Apr 2007, 05:17

Hello to all. I am new to the Avo family and new to the forum, so if this topic has been previously covered please have patience!

I switched over to the Pearl 2008 from a Hog PC  system. I love the Pearl for live runs, but I am about to use it in my first theatre situation. My question relates to the Wholehog process of setting "Mark Cues"; those which preset your movers automatically prior to bringing up the next cue that utilizes these fixtures. On the Hog, one would simply go to the cue that would make the fixtures live and insert a "mark cue" before it, which would automatically set the automated fixtures to "ready postition" (with dimmers @0%) as the cue stack ran. Does the Pearl have any way of presetting fixtures in a cue such as a "mark cue", or do I have to preset each of the fixtures manually in advance with all of the dimmers at 0%?

Thanks in advance for your help!

I'm not familiar with theatre stack but there is a memory preload function. IIRC you access this by pressing playback add while memory master at zero. Certainly not the most flexible option but something!

I noticed this as I was researching through the manual. I have not tried it as of yet, but I will make it my first priority. Thank you for the info!

There is no mark Cue on the pearl. You'll have to create those Cues by yourself. 2 tips:
* get to learn the include function, it allows you extract information from a memory/cue back into the programmer
* in the times menu, there is an option "link off / link on". This will make your mark-cue follow on the last cue.

good luck.
Oh, one last thing: the pearl doesn't track like a hog does

Great Advice. Thank you for the heads up! I will take some time to practice with a few fixtures prior to moving in to the theatre environment. Thanks again to all...

This could be a nice (but hard to implement I think) feature request though... Even the new Z88 desks do tracking so Avo can't stay behind (I have no idea if other avo console have tracking). I use the Pearl for theatre based things, but the implementation of the theatre stack is definitely not what it could have been, allthough you do get the trick done (in a somewhat difficult way sometimes).
