My question mostly revolves around Martin 3k's but I'm sure this will apply to any dmx strobe ( AF1000's etc.) really .........

I've been useing an avo pearl for 5 plus years but I've never been able to figure out ( and have never owned dmx strobes to just sit and play with .. only had rentals on shows with no real " dink around time") how to program a chase that will haev the strobe flash just once at every " beat" and that rate will change with the rate of the chase even if I have the duration " high " or " low" it will still just flash that once I lower the chase speed it only flashes once ( ie once a second) or I raise it it flashes at that speed ( ie once every .5 sec)

I KNOW there has to be a way to do this .. and probably really easy and I feel extremely dumb for not knowing how .. so please I beg the all known programmers of the Avo forums........

Please help a dumb slow witted American out

With the Atomics & a dimmer on/off chase simply set rate attribute to zero. This will then give instant flash when the on step is reached & allow you to set rate by wheel as you require. This should be true for most of the higher-end strobes with separate speed/intensity controls.

Increasing or decreasing duration should not affect the timing in any way.

This does not work for some of the cheaper Chinese units where zero rate just means very slow & does not give the instant response needed.

Alternatively you can program a PB with just the rate channels and set to mode 2. This will allow you to vary the internal strobe rate by fader and reduce load on the console. The disadvantage of this is you will need separate intensity control - either another PB or direct from the preset handle.

I thoght I had tried that before without success....

I might have been doing it all wrong.... would not be a first time LOL
