Titan Mobile start up question

Postby oaksld » 28 Apr 2021, 16:42

Since installing v.14 everytime I start the software I get the message that it cannot connect to the titan server.. it keeps retrying for about a minute before giving up and going through the rest of the start up sequence. This isn't a huge deal but in the case of a crash during a show, that 1 minute is crucial in getting the show back up and running... is there anyway to bypass this?

Thank you

To clarify the Titan Server/Engine is what loads and runs your show file and outputs all the DMX. In this case server doesn't mean connecting to Internet, on startup both server and client are almost always on the same machine. There is a small exception if you are rejoining a TitanNet/multi-user session but even then that is only on your local network (LAN).

The user interface which displays the screens and decides what to do with button presses cannot do anything without the Titan Engine so displays the Starting Titan... message until a connection between the applications is made. After a while the UI displays a message saying that it hasn't been able to make that connection yet, this is supposed to be more than the expected time for Titan to start. In principle we could delay showing that message but that would not change the overall time to start the software.

Does it take as long to start if you have no show loaded? Are there any background applications which might be affecting performance, a virus scanner might be an example of this? Is the software installed on an SSD or hard drive, the latter would likely increase start up times. We try to keep start up times under control and make performance improvements where we can.
