[Resolved] Group Delete error

When you try to delete a group it returns an error message saying it cannot be deleted because it's being referenced by a pixel effect.

There's no effects or shapes recorded anywhere in the show file.

2nd attempt successfully deletes the group. It seems to only affect automatically defined groups which appear when you patch a fixture.

Apologies if I have misunderstood but I believe this is the correct behaviour. 'Type' groups (and groups referenced by a pixel effect) cannot be deleted. They can only be unassigned. If you attempt to delete these it will prompt explaining this and unassign the handle. This is unchanged from previous versions although the prompt wasn't added until version 12.0.

Aha. I didn't know this. I only upgraded from 11.4 about a week ago and I skipped 12 and went straight to 13. That's why I've never seen this prompt before.

Can I check whether this issue is about v14.0? In v14.0 you should receive an error saying that the group couldn't be deleted because it is either a type group or has referencing pixel maps, and the group handle should be unassigned.

It sounds like you might be talking about v13.0 - In which case I'll move this topic to the general zone of the forum rather than the v14.0 open beta section?

sorry, it was in v14, I think we've established that it's not an error as such, it's intentional to prevent groups being accidently deleted i guess.
