Im setting up a show to be triggered via midi on Macos.
I try to record a macro for previos connected cue.

Record, Macro, select executor, previous, previous, go

It does nothing. Are the macro records restricted to presses that effect the programmer. Any suggestions on a work around.

I have only tried this in the offline editor. Would that be the problem.

I assume you are attempting to go to the previous cue, if the cue list is connected you can used the Go Back factory macro. In your example you would probably need to press Connect before selecting the cue list.
