Rate Tap

Postby Purple Ronnie » 24 Jan 2019, 13:32

TT2 V11.1

I have rate master 1 on a playback fader and blue button shows TAP. I can't get this to do anything.
Flash (grey) makes it jump to 100% and fader works 0-100% but can't tap.
Any ideas?

Also, (this may be a feature request) can I make the TT2 Grand Master fader something else? I'd like it to be a group master so I can black out everything except banner lights.

Thanks

To my knowledge you can't tap a rate master even though the key suggests so. Try imagining how tapping a rate of 50% would look like. Unfortunately you cannot assign both a BPM and a rate master to the same playback. You can assign a BPM master and use the rate grand master though. I do that occasionally.

No, you cannot assign something else to the grand master. If you got intensities that need to bypass the grand master you can freeze them.

Using tap on a rate master will not change the rate itself but it will set the tempo of any associated playbacks. What are you trying to achieve?

I was trying to free up a fader and put the rate master in playback window and use tap as my speed control. Just trying it on a playback fader to work it out first.
I'm probably looking at it the wrong way and should keep to a fader for movement/shape speeds and BPM in playback window for other stuff?

If you want a tap in the playbacks window I'd use a BPM master, a tap macro (https://www.avolites.de/wiki/macros:example:bpmmasters) and set a FX multiplier in the effect playbacks.

Actually if you want to tap shape speed then you have to use a BPM master as, rightly or wrongly (probably wrongly), tap rate master only appears to work for chases at the moment.
