Suggestions on MIDI controller for Azure

I want to remote control my Azure 2000 using a MIDI controller.
I'm looking for suggestions as to a good MIDI controller for this.
My main concern is that a regular MIDI keyboard will send a NOTE ON when I press a key, then a NOTE OFF when I release it. So it would be fine for just playing back basic LTP parameter changes. But I think I wouldn't be able to take my hands from the keyboard to keep HTP channels, chases, and shapes going...
There are some programmable controllers with buttons so I could program one button as NOTE ON and another as NOTE OFF for each playback, but that would use up a lot of buttons. I don't really see any MIDI controllers that offer so many buttons. What would be great is a push-on push-off action on the controller to match that of the Azure, but I don't know if any controller has that...
Anyway, I appreciate any suggestions or experiences...
