I've just bought a used Pearl Expert console, the Black one. Am I right this is the first gen and not a pro? It's running Titan 8.1 which seems stable and has one SSD installed, no disk hard drives. The motherboard is the LV-677.
Really I'd like to know what I can improve on this desk, I'd like to get a touch wing but am I right saying that needs an upgrade kit as there's no connection for it. Could I go to 9.1..... is it worth upgrading to 9.1
I know it needs a full hardware upgrade to go to 10.1 so probably not worth the cost.
Any info/tips appreciated.
Thanks

Re: Bit confused about Pearl Expert consoles....
You can run up to v9.1 on the older desks. A touch wing is highly recommended.
I’ve upgraded 3 experts to Pro spec and IMHO it’s worth every penny for the faster operation and new features of V10.1. Yes it is extremely expensive to do so, but if you pick up a used one at a good price, it’s the right way to go. I’m not sure how much longer they’ll be making V10 upgrades, so get it while it’s hot.
That being said, I have an interface kit for a touch wing for a series one still in the package that I never used. I upgraded to pro before putting the wing interface in. So if you just want to add that functionality, it’s a much cheaper route. (Under $200 shipped if I recall correctly?) v9.1 is still a great release of the software.
Best,
Brian
