Crashing Pearl.. HELP!!

Postby clublights » 14 Jul 2006, 05:09

I've got a pearl 2000 with the 2004 V1.2 software on it
the desk is in the 1800 serial number range
when just starting the desk it will lock up in this state:
from LEDs lit up are
Fixture page 3
the right arrow in the chase section
Preset fader 1
Memory
Fan
Pan and Tilt
Focus
Shift
the LCD is just " strobing"
internally
the LED display says MAIN
the LED's inside lit up are
TMS
DQM IRQ
KE IRQ

if I set the wipe all link I get this
all the same front screen LED's and LCD state
I get the internal LED to say .. prog then wipe then play locks at play
the LED's lit up are
TMS
DQM LRQ
KE IRQ

if I enter the AVOS ( either with the link or with the 21 and 30 key combo)
I get this
LCD says pearl 2000 +R50 jun 12 2002
and the normal AVOS "stuff"
internally I get the LED display with OK and the "spinning" bar
and only the TMS bank LED on

now after all of this is said and done here are my questions

1 what MIGHT be causing this hardware wise? Failing flash chips??
2. would a noisy main problem be the all troubles I have here?
( we were about to give up on the desk arranged a spare and shut off all the other gear in the house and "suddenly" the pearl started up fine and I could not get it to crash again this leading me to mains issues)

any suggestions and Ideas would be nice to know
thanks in advance

I think the best thing to do would be speak to Brad at Avo USA.

You can get them on (865)938-2057, he should be able to help you out

After talking to both Rob and Brad at Avolites America

The issue is either a flaking power supply( since it is running just fine right now I cant confirm that)

OR

Dirty Mains. the house the desk is in is " known" for dirty power issues so we are leanign that way till we can fault check the power supply
