the universe arrangement of a console

This may sound like a silly question but I am asking for my curiosity.
I'm using a Pearl Expert console and there should be DMX ouptput A and B at the back of the console if I recall it right. My question is, when you patch the fixtures via DMX output A and B, does it always pair with universe 1 and universe 2 in the console? Perhaps you can set universe number to whatever you want? If so, how to set the universe then?

You can change the assignment/routing in System/DMX Settings.
