I wanted to be sure if there is a way or not to do what I want before putting it on the ideas website.

I want to create a KeyFrame Shape that alternate between a colour I set (for example from a palette) in the Shape and the actual colour output of the fixtures. So the Shape would overlay "dynamically" the actual colour with the one from the Shape for one step and in the second step restore to the original colour from the fixtures.

I thought it would be possible by having an empty KeyFrame and another one with the colour I want, but apparently it's not allowed to record an empty KeyFrame.

Any idea ?

No, unfortunately this is not currently possible. Essentially a release per frame like with chases. It has been requested before and is logged in the system but it's still worth posting as an idea so people can vote to help version scheduling and prioritisation.
