Patching problem on Pearl 2000

I'm having an intermitent issue patching in moving lights from the fixture library disks I download from the net. After you've selected your fixture from the disk it takes you to the patch page, but there is no fixture info displayed in the patch window and it always displays DMX 001 as the next available address even though I have already patched in dimmers starting from DMX 001. To get around this I select 'Choose Another Fixture' from the window then I select the same fixture again. I takes me to the patch window with all fixture info displayed and the correct next availble DMX address.

Why is this happening the first time I try to patch any fixture? I'm running a Pearl 2000 with 2004 software, but I've got the extended memory and everything else seems to function fine. Any suggestions?

Weird. I've never seen that. Are you sure the correct universe is selected?

Yes, correct universe is selected. It's very odd, I've tried reloading the software many times, using different libraries but I always get the same fault the first time...
