The Avolites Discussion Forum

As the feature request list seems to get longer and longer, I have the feeling that some of them won't be implemented due to lack of time (and money to pay develoopers obviously). I was thinking about what is the point of view of Avolites about opening the source code of the pearl (as an example) or part of it so people can contribue and develop new features ?

ps: they are many arguments pro and cons this topic, i don't want to put to many in here in this post but i truly believe that opening the pearl source code can boost it's popularity

I am afraid you do not realy understand the nature of how the Pearl software works. Unfortunatly there are certain aspects of the Pearl software which would make what you are suggesting extreamly difficult.

It is not like PC Software, you have to have a dedicated development suite which costs thousands of pounds. I would not expect that anyone in the Pearl comunity either has the development suite or is willing to pay a few thousand pounds to get it. You would then need to fork out more money to get a dedicated bit of hardware to allow you to put the software in the desk.
