Azure 2k for Programming Catalyst

Postby bigdragg » 13 Apr 2006, 21:01

Does anyone have any experience programming a standard Catalyst Media Server (not DL1 or DL2) with an Azure 2k?

I typically do this on a Hog iPC or III, but I have some small corporate gigs that I would prefer ot use the 2k.

If you've done this...how does the interface compare with a Hog? Are all the samme options there? Ease/stability of doing this? Speed of the system?

Thanks!

I run Catalyst constantly on my Pearl 2004 w/ no probs, don't wee why it wouldn't work on the Azure - of course it requires that you set up groups and pallets.

Catalyst on a Pearl 2000 (2004 software)

Postby Kris.g » 16 Jun 2006, 10:48

Yeah i'd usuallyt use the Hog iPC however we've decided not to hire in a desk for a small event on Monday........ I can't seem to find a good personality file for the Catalyst Ver. 4 software........ whenever you Locate Fixture you get this strange squint white square on what ever layer you'r working on.

It makes programming hard and much much longer as you have to correct this every time you want to program something new.

Hi Kris,

Which attributes do you need to correct to change? Once you let me know I'll fix the personality

In Frame
Out Frame
X-axis Rotate
Y-axis Rotate
Z-axis Rotate
Scale

There were a few other problems which I can't remember off hand.

Here is a link to the "Catalyst Version 4 DMX Protocol Table"
http://www.krisonthe.net/Files/CatalystV4_Protocol.pdf
which has the default values for all 40 channels.

Thanks

I've just checked through all of the locate values and they match the specification. Did you have these problems with the previous version Catalyst software and the previous personality?

hi, i've used a Azure on catalyst V3.i've used on a pearl 2004 as well.
For azure, when i turn the wheel for library and file, the value of the file no jumps from 0 to a bigger value..eg60 in jus a slight turn. when do i change the options to make it fine so i can slowly scroll through the library and files.

And as for Pearl, when i locate fixture, my Z-axis Rotate is not straight.Something wrong with my personality file?

For wheel speed hold [shift] (avo) and toggle through wheel response curves using numeric 2.

Don't know about locate value. This is defined in the personality file. Perhaps you could compare this to the value which does give z-axis straight?

The current locate value for the Z axis is the best we can do in the Pearl. Unfortunately we can only set the upper locate value and not the lower locate value, as a result the locate value is slightly higher than the range for 0º rotation.

We hope to improve this in the future.

Actually I misread about using Azure & wheel response. I was referring to Pearl 2004 builds. I have a feeling this won't be available on the Azure.
