Rate grand master, tap tempo and chases/shapes

Postby jgavo » 22 Jul 2016, 15:12

I have a set of chase playbacks with speed set to local, and a set of dimmer shape playbacks also with speed set to local.
I have assigned a grand rate master to a fader. If I tap tempo the grand rate master then all the chase speeds sync to that rate, however the shapes don't. They do however respond to fader movement on the grand rate master as expected.
If I assign a bpm1 master and set the shape playbacks to take that tempo it works fine, however I'd like both the chases and shapes to take the rate from tempo tapped on the grand rate master to save faders/buttons.

Am I missing something, or are there settings that I need to check ?

I'm still running on v9.1 and am too chicken to upgrade just before a set of shows I have coming up despite all the lovely features in v10 !

Thanks,
John.

No you aren't missing something, Tap Tempo on a Rate Master (not BPM) will only change the BPM in chases that are connected to it (or all chases in the case of the Rate Grand Master). This is related to the fact that cues and cue lists don't have a BPM value themselves and it is the playback value that is being changed.

This has come up before so hopefully we will be able to come up with something in an upcoming version.

Thanks for the quick reply Gregory - good to know there's not something I've missed.
