Problem with chase speed

I have pearl 2000 with 2004 soft. And the problem is when I TAP a speed for chase it will be much faster than it should be. I. e. when I tap the speed is 0,4 sec but really it is about 0,6.

We have the same problem, also on a pearl 2000 running 2004 software.
Been meaning to mention it on here for ages

I don't use the TAP button, so I've not really noticed this before...
The post caught my curiosity so I got out a metronome, set it to 100BPM which in a 4/4 time signature each beat will last 600ms. Tapping in sync to each beat and the chase runs at 400ms/step. WHAT?
I could make it run in time to my metronome by manually slowing the chase down, guess what it read when in time...600ms
The only time a step should last 400ms at 100BPM is with a time signature of 6/4...so...it must be something to do with how The Pearl is counting between each button press. I thought this was covered in a previous thread, but I couldn't find it.
This explains why only certain BPM's are allowed

but that isn't what the OP's question was about.
Now I'm confused!

Andy

I also never use the tap function, but certainly sounds like a simple timing error. With so many functions some things end up being missed or not tested fully. Now that it has been reported I would imagine this will be easy to fix.

Unless, it's a to do with maxed out keyboard scanning and/or overworked CPU. I hope it's fixable, seems a bit daft to offer Tap tempo entry, when it's too inaccurate to use.

PRL1839 Sat just across the road from the venue DOSX and I work at suffers from the same problem. Nice to finally know it's the desk and not my fingers at fault

I've noticed it too, and I've been meaning to mention it here too! I use the tap function quite often and it would be usefull if it would work as expected

Hi - for what it's worth, I noticed this and posted a thread about it on the Blue Room here:
http://www.blue-room.org.uk/index.php?showtopic=12924 finding that others had the same problem. Glad to hear it's been flagged up!
Regards
Peter (who forgot about the existence of the Avo forum, sorry!)
