Pearl Expert Titan Shape Palettes and Speed Faders Help!?

Postby 64Bit_MantaRay » 30 Oct 2015, 19:10

Hi all,

So I'm fairly new to programming Avolites desks, mainly self taught and youtube due to a set of circumstances that left us with no staff member capable of doing so.

We have a Pearl Expert Titan (I believe), our rig is quite a simple rig, 6 Mac 350's, 6 mac 101s, 3 mac 250 wash, 7 I-pix Satellites and a Unique Hazer.

Anyways, I can generate shapes using the shape generator for the fixtures and assign it to palettes. I can also assign the shapes to faders and link the speed of shapes to the fader. however for say 6 different shapes for 3 sets of moving heads would take 18 faders, not ideal. So when i assign the shapes to a palette and then select say the 350's and make them circle, however then i press clear to deselct all the fixtures to then select say all the 101s, this though removes the shape palette from the 350s and so they're now sat doing nothing.

My question is how can i keep all my shapes on palettes without then having them removed from my fixtures every time i hit clear? and is there a way to map an overall shape and size for the current shape patterns running to faders.

What I'd like to do is have say 4 palette buttons for say circle, square, spiral and diamond. and then 2 faders, one for size and one for speed. so i can select some 350's, hit circle, and then some 101s and hit square and then move my speed fader and they all speed up or slow down, and hitting clear then wont send them all back to static lighting.

I've tried the google and can't seem to find anything about it unfortunately.
Cheers in advance, hope that makes sense. :)

I would advise against using palettes for shapes and try to make the faders work for you. Although you only have 20 faders on the roller you can use pages.

I would take a strip of electrical tape and sick it above the roller faders. Then using the tape divide the roller into 4 sections Mac350, Mac101, Mac250 and Satelites. Only record memories for each fixture type in the marked area's. Then if you need more faders move to another roller page.

All your Fixtures, Pixel Map Masters, Intensity Cues and Speed Masters can go on the preset faders.

Using this method you should not run out of faders and you will find you are not needing to fire a memory on a fader that is already fired.

If you really get stuck and run out of faders then there is a Playbacks workspace window which you can record Playbacks and run.

A good tip is to change the playback options on the playback so the fader adjusts the size or speed. This means you can slowly bring the shape in.
