Elation Enode 4 with Pearl Expert

Greetings-

I have been trying to connect an elation enode 4 to a pearl expert console for a few hours now. I have tried all sorts of configurations with no luck.

If I patch a fixture to a universe connected the enode and run the fader up and down I can see the signal light flashing like dmx is being sent, but the fixture does nothing.

If I hookup one of my entec boxes it works fine.

does anyone have any experience with the enode 4 that could tell me what I'm doing wrong?
