Timecode

Hi,
I need to make a light show that goes in sync with audio and video.
We do have the audio tracks, and we just need to program on them.
I am using a titan mobile and generally I do not have any experience on timecode programming etc.
What is the best way to do it? MA users suggested SMPTE. How do I set up the system?
What will I need?
I hope you can help me on this :-) THX

SMPTE timecode is a standard ; it can be distributed in various ways. Amongst them are LTC (Linear TimeCode, which is an audio signal) and MTC (MIDI TimeCode).

Regarding the timecode source : the easiest way to do it is to play the audio of your show from Winamp on the laptop you are using to run the Titan Mobile software.
Then, in Titan, set the timecode source to Winamp.
However, if you are not alone (if someone else needs to be hooked on the TC) then you'll need an external timecode source and, if you're using a Titan Mobile, your only option is to receive MTC and use the MIDI input on the TM.
If all you can get is LTC, then you need a larger Avo desk, with LTC input (i.e. Tiger Touch 2).

Regarding programming, you have to use cuelists. Open the cuelist view and set a specific time for each cue in the 'Timecode' column.

Here's the section on Timecode in the user manual : http://www.avolites.com/Portals/0/downl ... f#page=183

If you are not familiar with cuelists (and/or tracking), I highly recommend you to read the whole cuelist section : http://www.avolites.com/Portals/0/downl ... f#page=170

One more question, MIDI over Ethernet with the rtpMIDI drivers? will it work or I need to use the midi port of the mobile?

You need to use the MIDI port on the mobile.

So if I receive MIDI on my laptop via ethernet and RTP, then re-route on a midi over USB adaptor and then plug the cable in the mobile....(  pant pant) will it work??

You could play your videofile with the audio inside in winamp. And connect Titan with winamp :)
