Hey everyone
I will be using the 2 pearl 2004 console to run a musical in china. Is there a way where we can install a back up the console during the show???
And how can i link 2 console up???

You mean a second console should operate the show when the first one failes? That's fairly simple; buy some DMX mergers and set them to backup mode. That way the merger uses signal A as standard, but when that failes immediately changes to signal B. Program the show on one console, save and load it onto the other one, that should do the trick. Maybe avo has some more sophiticated ways of doing this though...?

We seem to be having a bit of a battle against the spammers at the moment. We keep trying different methods to get rid of them but they still manage to get through.

Tnx. I must say I am amazed how much spam we see here. Almost every time I pop in I see a new user with a very un LD-like name! I don't see this on any other forums and yet these other forums have huge numbers of daily posts/members and are much less specialised. Is strange.

The problem is that spammers are always finding ways around the forums security systems. The phpBB forum software is normally updated as soon as a security breach is found but we do not have the resources to update this forums software everytime a release occurs.

To answer your original question a DMX merger or switch is probably your best option as far as linking the DMX is concerned. You can also use MIDI to link the two console so that they mimic each other.

However this can pose an aditional problem because if they are mimicing each other and a software problem occurs in one the chances are the same problem will occur in the other.

I would recomend for a safe backup you use a DMX switcher that you can use to switch over to the backup console and then get the show into the same state.

The chances are though that if you prepare properly, nothing will go wrong!

I had this problem with bots on my forum. The trick is in adminstration configuration set the option of visual confirmation on!
