V9 bug : problem with fixture selection

Postby Quidam » 25 Mar 2015, 21:21

Hi,

Problem with a show today : at some point, fixture selection became impossible. And the @ keys also stopped responding.

Another user on the fb group had the same problem a few days ago and found out it actually has something to do with multiple users and handle worlds :
the problem seems to appear as soon as you switch user (although, in my case, things started misbehaving an hour or so after the change).
Switching handle worlds back and forth solve the issue.
Switching to another user instantly brings it back.
(edit : that's not consistent ; last time I tried to reproduce, I had to switch two or three times and fiddle with handle worlds as well).

---
Details (starting from an empty programmer) :

- Select a fixture by touching a virtual handle. Everything seems fine, but the @ keys aren't responding. You're still able to modify value with the encoder wheels, though.
- Try to select another fixture.
> If you haven't modified any value, the first fixture remains selected, as expected, but the second is just strangely 'half-highlighted' (this looks like the color you get on fixtures when dragging a selection box, before lifting your finger) (see Fig. 1 on image below).
> If you have modified a parameter value, the first selected fixture will be kind of grayed out, second half-highlighted (Scroll image below to see Fig. 2)
In both cases, using the wheel after 'selecting' a second fixture still only modifies the parameter of the first fixture selected.

You are still able to select multiple fixtures but the only way to do that is to drag a selection box around them or to use the syntax. Further selections (or syntax key 'AND') won't work and will behave as described here.
---

Notes :
* After the problem appeared, a playback I recorded (using selection box and encoders to program it) worked fine on first launch, then stopped working forever.
* Reloading the show solved all those problems - but just for a few minutes.
* Switching HW back and forth solved it - it's been an hour now.
* The other user made a small video to show the odd behaviour of the handles ; it is available on this fb post
* I couldn't attach the logs collected on my TM setup ; could you please remind me the email address I can send these to ?

I think the root problem here is that the software is getting into a state where it thinks a handle has been selected but not release. If you press and hold a fixture you will notice the colour of the handle the same as when it goes wrong.

I will raise the issue.
