Right, Had a few problems last night.

During the middle of a show. the desk crashed, completly un-responsive. Turning the key had no effect, none of the faders worket etc. In order to sort the desk we had to re-install the AVOS, the 2004 software etc this seems to have sorted the problem for now. It is a 2000 by the way.

This problem first happened around christmass, and then never happened again, until a week ago, then again last night.

Anyone have any idea's? Could it be the internal battery going? or is it more likely to be a hardware fault.

Could it be duff mains... We managed to crash our Pearl, Hog (*shudders*) and Show Controller when plugging in a cheap DVD player... although we didn't have any problems last night (I work in a venue about 100m from Matt for those who don't know), so if it was mains, it wasn't a Sheffield wide thing.

I take it Nick wasn't drinking smoke fluid again?

Just to add to the syptoms shown by the perl:

First the AVOS didn't need reinstalling, just accessing to perform a wipe all.
Second the board was showing between 4-5 bus errors before the wipeall was performed. This may provide some explaination as to why I had different functionality available each time I rebooted the desk. It may also explain why features such as the password entry for the AVOS appeared randomly lock itself out and become unresponsive.
It took 2 wipeall's initiated from the AVOS to clear the desk to a state in which it would start to respond again. After this, the 2004 software was reloaded, then the show disk was reloaded. After this, the desk perfomed flawlessly for the rest of the night.

AFAIK the battery is irrelevant when mains powered, but I may be wrong.
Were you using 2004 build software before the problem?

Bus errors seem significant - perhaps video card seating?

This does sound like hardware. Have you checked all ribbon connects/chips?

Otherwise, I guess all you can do is keep an eye out for more bus errors and see if it happens again!

There were more buss errors later on aparantly.

I'm going to put a new powersupply in and re-seat all the cables / cards and see keep an eye on it.

The responce of the desk desk seem a bit slower than usual tho.
