Midi mapping not working on Titan Mobile

Hi,
I'm running Titan 8.1 on Windows 7 on my MacBook Pro (booted directly into Windows), with a Titan Mobile. My colleague is running Windows 7 and Titan 8.1 (on his rack style dedicated show PC) also with Titan Mobile. He's written some time coded cues for our next show, running with Q-Lab on his MacBook Pro.
This evening we tried to get my Titan to work with his Q-Lab, but failed to set up the Midi mapping. We created a trigger, selected the Go button, but when we ran the midi note Titan wouldn't detect it. Jacob has this set up on his Titan/Mobile install.
We noticed that when creating the mapping on my Titan, the grey vertical bars surrounded by a box at bottom right of the trigger window didn't appear. When creating the mapping on his machine the grey bars appear, and when the midi note is played it's detected on his machine and shows up in those grey bars. We even re-installed my Titan from the same download as Jacob used to make sure both our PCs where running identical versions (they were and still are). We're both using the same show file.
Any idea why 2 identical Titan versions display the triggers window differently (1 of them clearly isn't right)? And is there a setting somewhere in Titan that I need to switch on to enable me to create a mapping?
