tracking off / scenario question

Postby lightning » 07 Jun 2014, 22:14

probably another question for niclights ;-)

my preferred style is using recording cue lists by *Stage* mode, with tracking off, m-i-d early, m-i-d fade 0 secs... Heres my test cue list:
Cue 1: movers in position-1 in Red (3 sec fade)
Cue 2: movers out (so they will move-in-dark for cue 3) (3 sec fade)
Cue 3: movers in position-2 in Blue (3 sec fade)

the problem with tracking off and the way I recorded the cues (stage).. when i hit cue 2, the movers fade out but the color snaps to white before they fade out... if tracking is on they respect the previous value of course and do a smooth blackout from the previous color... is there a way to make it so the color changes dont occur until the moving lights are in black? i feel like i'm requesting a "Color-change-in-dark" setting.

Hope this makes sense..

Probably

Unfortunately I can't reproduce this.
My test as follows:

- New show
- Patch 1x Robe Robin 600 LED Wash, Mode 3, 15 DMX
- Visualise
- Select and locate
- Clear
- Select, @@, set red to full, green to 0 and blue to 0
- Move pan and tilt
- Record [Cue List]
- [Record by Stage]
- Select playback fader handle and append cue 1
- @ [0]
- append cue 2
- @@, set red to 0, blue to full
- Move pan and tilt
- append cue 3
- Clear
- [Playback Options]/<select playback handle>
- Toggle [Tracking Off]
- Toggle [Move in Dark Early]
- Exit
- [Edit Times]
- Set Fade in to 3sec for all cues
- Set Move in Dark fade to 0 for all cues

- Open channel grid and toggle context option to show output
- Lift playback fader
- Go cue 1
= Fades intensity, position and colour to cue 1 over 3 sec.
- Go cue 2
= Fades out intensity over 3 sec. When complete position and colour mix values snap ready for cue 3 (observe in channel grid)
- Go cue 3
= Fades in intensity over 3 sec
(note that channel grid will show '-' in place of locate values, so for blue it will show Red '0', Green '0', Blue '-' since locate values for RGB are all at full. misleading and something I disagree with)

I can only think that there is something else in your cue 2, specifically colour, that is causing this to happen. Anything that is in cue 2 will still happen as it will have no choice (ie. there was no gap between cue 1 and 2 to load the new values).

Try viewing each of the cues in your cuelist and see if there is a clue.
