New user to Titan Mobile - probably a silly question

Hi,

I am a bit of a newby and up till now haver only used rather basic DMX desks.

My lovely Titan Mobile arrived today and I have been having fun playing with it but I seem to be having a problem getting it to control my lights.

I downloaded the latest software and connected it up to my laptop using one USB cable. The Titan Mobile is lighting us well and seems to be connecting up OK to the laptop. When I press things on the laptop things change on the desk.. Great!

I have connected an ADJ Megarpar profile panel light.. I thought I would start with something simple. set the DMX channel to 001. Patched the light into programme and it looks like I can change colours in the attributes workspace.. I can do this one the computer or on the console but I get nothing on my light.

I am using a 5 pin to 3 pin converter. Something must be going to the light as the display flashes when the computer is turned off but stops flashing when I turn the computer on so I would assume that something is going down the wire..

I have gone into the system and looked at the DMX lines and line one is assigned to output A.. so that should be OK...

So the question.. am I forgetting to do something basic??

As you can tell by the language I am using.. I am pretty new to all this and any help/advice would be most welcomed.. The desk looks great and I can't wait to start experimenting with it.

Thanks

Chris

The easiest thing to check before you do anything else is press locate after selecting the fixture. This should make it light. Sometimes it's as simple as dimmer not being up or shutter not being open.

If that doesn't work then we need to check that the patched personality is correct and that the mode matches the one set on the fixture. There is no American DJ fixture called 'Megarpar profile panel light'. If you can tell me the precise name of the fixture I can confirm which, if any, personality you should be using.

As a last resort you can patch some dimmers starting from 001. Initially try setting them all to full at once.

Thanks Niclights..

I tried all those things and for some reason it did not work. The console was a nearly new one but it had been used by someone else before me so I suspect some of the routing may have been changed.

Anyway.. in the end I loaded up the demo show which immediately sent a signal to my lights.. I then started again to set up a new show and all seemed to work OK.

I must say that I really do like the desk.. It is taking me a while to get my head around but it provides much more than my previous desk.

I need to get my head around the virtualiser thing now. I can't quite work out how to upload my fixtures in to it.. I will have a look around the foam and see if there are any clues there. The manual does not give me much a clue for that.

Anyway.. thanks for your help.

Chris

I'm not sure what you mean by 'upload'. By default visualiser is set to automatically patch fixtures where possible. This option is called 'auto update' and is toggled on/off in the visualiser context menu. This will only work where visualiser files have been written. If you require files that have not been created please request using the online form using 'Visualiser' as console type. Note that it is currently not possible to simulate multi-cell fixtures, amber, white or effect channels.
