pearl2004 fading pallettes stop working, bug??

Hello

On a show 2 days ago I had a pearl running 2004 v1.1 with 6*mac250.
After a day of programming, and about 30 minutes of show, fading pallettes stopped working. e.g. [select fixtures], [5], [preset add22] would no longer fade to the position pallette 22. It would do nothing at all. Though calling those pallettes without a fade time worked perfectly.

I have tried everything, [clear][clear][exit], key-program,[clear][clear]key-run-takeover,[clear][clear], checking for blind mode, calling them while in program mode, calling them from the [focus] menu. No matter what I did, if I entered a fade-time, the pallete would not recall. But giving no time worked fine. Shapes and position chases were also behaving normally.

After turning the desk off and on again, everything worked, but only for 30 minutes. After that it was the same problem again.

Any ideas on what this is??

pearl2000, boris II, vidcard + extended memory (check OK)
software 2004 v1.1
show was probably created in v1.0, edited in the pearlsim2004 and then loaded in the desk with v1.1

problem was for all pallettes (color, gobo, position)
showfile available if needed

Many thanx
Coen

Well spotted Sir!

Known about this one for a while now and it is nasty, although seemingly unpredictable as to when it happens. I thought I was going mad the first two times it occured!

I think Olie has figured out what was causing it and hopefully the fix will be with us soon.

well.. I wasn't too happy about spotting the error myself.. :)

and again, if you need my showfile to help find the problem, I've got the disk laying here on my desk. Happened to me a second time after the reboot, so it may be a pretty persistent error.

I have managed to fix this problem and the new software version is currently undergoing testing.

The problem is isolated to the first 5 palette keys. If you happen to press these while running a palette then they lock out that palette slot. So if you happen to press all 5 of these palette keys while running a timed palette then you lock out all the palette slots and they stop working.

Sorry a bit difficult to explain but hopefully this may help you avoid the problem until the new software is released.

YAY!!!!

I just got mail from avolites, there's a new software prl2004 v1.2 that fixes this problem.

Thanx for the great service, and the temporary workaround.

*off to get some new floppies* :)
