Hi there,
Strange new thing has come to my attention. I've updated the harddisk cause the old one died, after reinstalling the 7.0 titan software with all the right codes and stuff now in the system menu I've got a licence countdown timer, which tells me that I 'have 180 days left. And off course everyday it's -1.
Can this be a problem??

The time remaining will increase with each new release of software, so if you upgrade to
v7.1 you will have more time remaining. It does not mean that there is a problem with the console and we will continue to support it.

Ok that's good to hear. Whould be strange for the software to just drop out when the time's up. But as long that's not the case then I'm happy.

Just a word of caution when the timer runs out in V7 Tiger Touch the software is locked.
It happened to me and it’s easy to do like this-
I noticed the saved show dates were 1 month out so I decided to set it correct in the control panel, big big mistake.
I set it to what I thought was November 2013 but was in fact 2015 (I wear glasses).
I soon knew my mistake when the console displayed ‘Dongle Not found’!
Ok I thought just put the date right, oh no not that easy still ‘Dongle Not found’.
Reinstall V7.1 - still ‘Dongle Not found’ and in heath check software timer says ‘no’
Install V6 – all hell brakes lose - D4 errors - wont boot
After 2 hours of head scratching I resort to V6.0 recovery and a complete install and Yes it works.
Now installed V6.1 and I am leaving it there for the moment, I can’t risk this happening again.

I would really like to know why this timer exists on a Titan Pearl Expert. Does this mean if for what ever reason i cant update with in the time allotted my console shuts down??? I normally do not update during my busy season nor when i have a very hard show coming up. I do not need the stress of not knowing how the update will work and what issues come up. So far since i have purchased my pearl, every software update has had numerous issues and has caused me no end of grief at a time when i truly need the console to be absolutely dependable! Would some one please explain this Licence timer.

Yes it will big time - This the exact point, it exists on avo consoles Expert and TT.
I can understand the need for copyright protection but this also impacts on the legitimate users to.
I have a tour that runs for 4 months (may June July August 2014) and we are in pre production at the moment using a TT and Titan Mobile
and once programmed will not want to update software because of the issues that may come with it.
I for one do not want this ticking away in the background, I cannot have a manufacture forcing me to update in the middle of a tour
or show for that matter.
I would rather pay for the software and have it on my terms.
We are now looking at changing to a different desk

I have to say that this does cause more problems then it solves. I am lucky as in right now i work out of a venue but if i were on tour i would not even bring an AVO at this point. you NEVER do software updates when you are on tour. It never completely works out. you will always have problems. The response time i have got so far from AVO is measured in a few days. If you are on tour that doesn't cut it. One of the BIG things about AVO consoles is there longevity, you have now totally taken that away. So for all the hard work AVO has done to update this awesome console line you have taken about a mile in reverse. I have a Pearl Expert and a Titan Mobile for my two theaters and we are expanding. For my festival season i am considering a Tiger Touch. I am starting to regret this choice of using AVO. I LOVE AVO CONSOLES!! but really, automatic software shutdown, there are much better ways to deal with software piracy.
