Hi peepz
new user of the avolites pearl 2000 here. I just bought one on auction and revised it.
Now i was trying out the patching and so on and i ran into a thing i don't understand.
Here we go

So I have a laser here but we can swap that for a led par or whatever. since i am still looking for a usb<>floppy machine i choose to patch the fixture as dimmers.
Under the first lets say 5 handles i patch dimmers with Adres A1<>A5, wich are selection of the pattern (but this is not where the problem is) because when i select them and turn the wheel they laser/led par/whatever reacts.
Now when i push up the fader nothing happens :/ dmx valleu does't change real time nothing....
what i am not getting? i will continue searching in the manual. but maybe you experts can help me faster with your expertise ;)
the faders work i checked all i n the test screen

I will do a good introduction on who i am and why i am in the appropriate sub forum if there is one, in the right time if there is such a thing. because i am planning to bug you guys more with my newb questions ;)

Thanx in advance!

Remco

Make sure all master faders are at full. Press Clear. Do they work now?

If not, hold down the Avo key and select [User Settings] from the softkey menu. Press the down arrow on the keypad until you get to a line that reads 'Grand Master'. Use the left or right arrow on the keypad to set the grand master to 'broken'.

Now try the faders again.

Does that help?

Hey thanks for the fast reply,

The grand master is broken, but i knew that already. so the grand master was @ broken already.
Still have the problem, sometimes the dmx values change, but still not ''realtime''.
Is there a setting somewhere disabling the fader ''real time''?

getting floppy usb drive this evening, going for OS refresh anyhow.

O and then there is this: it is a avolites pearl 2000 rollacue serial nmr 981 boris 2 board i believe. But the OS is avolites pearl 2004.

Is this a possible cause for problems?

Boris 2 with 2004 software should be fine.

I'm not sure I understand what you mean by 'realtime'.

If the console is in program mode then lifting a preset fader will take control of the dimmer attribute of the associated fixture as soon as the fader matches the current output level of the fixture (for example from a playback). It will then be in the programmer and lowering the fader will override anything coming from a playback.

If the console is in run mode then the fader will respond as 'highest takes precedence'.

You can check if the faders are working properly by going to system/[service]/[diagnostic screen]. Move faders and look at relevant hexadecimal values on the LCD display.

Ok so the OS is fine thanks for clearing that out,
If i understand right:

If dimmer 1 (adress 001, handle 1) is @ 255 (by for example one of the x-y pots)

Handle 1 (controlling a001) is activated not before fully opened (reaching value 255) and if this dimmer channel is @ value 0 the handle will work right away

Correct. And if the dimmer is currently value x, where x > 0 then the preset fader will only allow >x when in run mode.
