Titan Mobile Windows 7 x64 wdapi1100.dll

Postby StijnS » 12 Jul 2013, 21:30

Good evening everyone,

I am trying to use a Titan Mobile on my laptop. The laptop is running a fresh Windows 7 Home Premium x64 installation (installed 3 hours ago). I only installed the Titan Mobile software.
But still I can't get the Titan Mobile to work on the computer. Windows doesn't find the drivers, and when I try to run the driver repair program, I get the error that C:\Windows\system22\wdapi1100.dll can't be written.
Does anyone have suggestions on how to fix this?

I don't think there is anything wrong with the TM, because I've already used it on another computer. (But the other computer was running Win XP and the installation was a peace of cake)

Kind regards,

Stijn

I discovered there was a Log Collector tool, so I ran that and attached the logs. I hope that helps.

I want to bump this thread up as nobody's responded to it yet. I just did a clean re-install of Windows 7 Home Premium 64 bit and I'm running into the same issue. Did this get resolved ever?

The error message Error opening file for writing: C:\Windows\system32\wdapi1100.dll occurs when some of the driver files are already installed and are in use by Windows. In this situation it is not possible to overwrite the file that Windows is using.

If Windows cannot find the driver for the Titan Mobile and it is shown in Device Manager as such, you should follow these steps:
  1. Open USB Expert Console and go to Tools > Repair USB Drivers from the menu
  2. Confirm the prompts and start the installation
  3. When the error message Error opening file for writing: C:\Windows\system32\wdapi1100.dll appears, press Abort then Cancel
  4. Open Device Manager and find the Titan Mobile device that is missing the driver
  5. Right-click on the device and select Update Driver Software... and click Browse my computer for driver software
  6. In the text box type %TEMP%\ExpertDrivers and click Next
  7. Windows should now search for and find the file in that directory, once complete click Close and exit Device Manager
  8. Restart the Titan Mobile software

Driver installation issues are sometimes caused by plugging in the Titan Mobile hardware before installing the software. For this reason we would always recommend installing the software before connecting the Titan Mobile.

Yep, that did it. Thanks Gregory.

I actually wasn't getting that error report when I was repairing the drivers via USB Expert and I could not update the driver through the device manager like you said. But, I uninstalled and then re-installed Titan and then everything happened like you described and now it works.

Thanks!
