Hi all,

Am hoping to use the winamp plug in to fire viz and stuff via my laptop.


Does anyone have any experience to share before I try it on shows.

I am going to use Pearl2000, visualiser cable, ACDI and also a USB to serial adaptor for laptop. Can I use any adaptor and drivers, as the one at the Avo shop seems v expensive.
Any comments???

PS Anyone know if Avo will ever enable Pearl sim 2004 to drive enttec open USB to DMX dongle.??? Thx

I guess from the lack of responses, no one has used it yet. All I can say is that I have used it on a gig during development and it worked fine, plus we had it running successfully at Plasa last year.

It would be good if you could post your experiences once you have used it.

No you can not. It will work with some third party Serial to USB adapters but not all of them. The reason we sell the adapter on our website is because so many people where having trouble getting the adapters to work. The one we sell on our website is guaranteed to work. You are free to try another adapter but please be aware that it may not work and we will not be able to help you to get it working.

Currently there are no plans to support this dongle. The Pearl Sim will support Avolites EzDmx (USB to DMX Adapter), Avolites EDmx (Wireless Dmx System) and Art-Net (Ethernet Dmx Standard).

Thanks for getting back to me. I too had assumed that no one else has really tried it out yet.

Am a little nearer to using it on gigs. Have spent a while fighting with Dell over defunct brand new laptop.

Also have tried out my USB to serial and it doesn't work so am awaiting delivery of avo one.

When all the bits work, I will using on corpoate gigs alongside LED based kit.

Will post any experiences on the forum in due course.
