Patching of chromaZones on Pearl - help?

Postby independentLD » 15 Feb 2005, 21:03

Dear all

Just wanted some help with gig setup for next week.

Am using 8 Pulsar Chromabank in six channel mode and will be patching each to its own handle/DMX. I am used to using the 6 way mode and have no problems doing this. I believe the banks have version 2 software and so I would like to know if I can use the latest 6 channel mode personality with them (dip switch 10 on) , or only 9 channel one marked as being for vers. 2.

The main thing I would like to know is how to set up 2 x ChromaZones with 12 chromapar connected to them so I can control each par individually. I am not sure which Pulsar settings to use or which personalitys will fit the bill. I think that I may have to patch 1 complete Zone on one handle and then the pars on an array of separate handles.

I would be grateful for anyones experience in this as the Pulsar information is fairly patchy and the Avo personality website is not quite specific enough on applications. Perhaps someone could clarify the relevant personality file names for each type of fixture.

Thanks for your time

You are correct about patching the zone on one handle and the fixtures on individual handles.
I run the zone in full mode (with smoothing off) for full control. After trying loads of different ways of operating, I ended up creating my own personality containing just Chase Select (the only attribute I wanted LTP). I then patched dimmers for the speed/level and master controls. I did this for maximum flexibility and mixing of memories when busking.

If you don't need the flexibility then use the LTP version.

There's no ideal way of operating them as there are no separate fixture masters. I have talked extensively to Pulsar about this and hopefully this will be available soon.
