hello
I'm using a titan Mobile console and trying to get art net to work with a Martin Ether 2DMX8 ..Here
http://www.martin.com/product/product.a ... Ether2DMX8
I connect the ethernet cable from the back of my hardrrive in to the Martin unit .plug a couple led cans in to the front of the unit with dmx to see if i can get any light out . ok .
I go in to system mode ( hit Avo and disk) and then network settings and i see No local area connection . so northing to go to the next step .
What now ? I have tried looking at the Martin manual but its more of a sales pitch than a manual . any help would be cool .. cheers

Hi,
I'd say this looks like a faulty network connection, and has nothing to do with Titan. Can be the cable or anything. I'd suggest you try to make a proper connection between your computer and the Martin box at first, and then proceed with setting up Art-Net in Titan. You can find out if the conenction is established e.g. with ping, or using the web browser (the Martin box has a web interface).

Well, as a quick check, I would ALWAYS use just a cable, and no wireless connection. ('The best wireless connection is a copper cable').
If you really need it wireless, you should allow for some extra time to hook this up and test it thoroughly. I am sure you'll get it working, but then you might get some unexpected lags or other issues which are due to the wireless transmission. As a result, just running some dimmers wiirelessly will work, but as soon as you have a larger amount of fixtures, with continuously changing data, trouble is likely.
What 'hard drive' are you referring to? Is it a wireless harddrive?

Thanks again . Sorry the hard drive is the Titan mobile computer . So I'm running the cable from there to the Martin 8 way box . I normally use dmx but the guy I'm working for who owns the rig what's to use art net . This is my first time with his system . The big issue is we need to run any cable 100 meters though a drain to the stage . ( open air festival )
So one cable would be better than 5 dmx runs . Thanks for your time

As soon as you have connected a cable, you should do the following steps:
- configure all devices (the computer and the Martin box) to similar network addresses, e.g. one on 2.0.0.1, and the other on 2.0.0.2.
- ping the Martin box from your computer (open a command prompt, type 'ping 2.0.0.2', hit ENTER)
- next, open a web browser, and open the type the Martin box' address in the address bar
- if everything is okay, you should be able to select this in Titan/System/Network settings, and assign Art-Net to the lines in Titan/System/DMX-Settings
And: in such a situation (100m distance, open air festival) wireless is definitely not a solution. 100m is a large distance for consumer devices. And you really must make it safe. Not only that none can hack into your WLAN, but also that none can disturb your WLAN nodes so that they are not responsive. Sometimes one needs just a stronger transmitter to make the access points disconnect.

No it's just normal Ethernet . I have been told in the last 24 hours that i do need to use a crossover cable . Would you know what is different about the crossover cable ? ( my first time with artnet ) and we have a 100mt run from desk to stage ( all led rig no dimmers )
Cheers
It does state in the Martin manual you need a xover cable. These are sometimes required when networking devices directly and almost certainly why you are seeing no network.
A 100m xover cable is not really practical. Instead I would suggest running through a simple switch or router to avoid the need. I would locate this at the stage end and run two cat 5 lines keeping both connected to the switch at the stage end. In case of failure you then only have to swap the cable at the console.
