Patching auto-changing on Pearl 2004

Postby Mcyf12 » 05 Feb 2005, 13:42

Hi, i hv been experiencing quite a lot of problems with my pearl 2004. Page changing, slow down.... And now recently, my patching actually change on it's own. My patching on page 0 went to page 1, half of page 2 went to page 1... Something like tt. We tried to load diskettes with previously saved patching. But it actually stayed the same, affecting the cues also.

What i want to know is how do i fix all this? And what could be causing all this? Hardware?

Thx

Wierd!

Sounds to me like using shows from 2000 soft on 2004 or vice-versa.
Which software are you running?

Are you seeing random changes to roller page 3, or occasional flashes of HTP channels/odd numbered channels entering the programmer on its own?

Sounds to me related to the key reading fault in 2000 software. This is fixed in 2004.

This may be the solution (& it's loads better anyway!)

Yes i am. I was told tt it is due to the bugs in the old software. But is auto-patching changing part of the known software problems? Also we once tried to upgrade the software to the new version. But the console "hanged" while loading. And we had to reload the old software.

FYI the technical fault was key reading was set to 16bit in the software whereas the hardware only reads in 8bit.
This existed in all 2000 builds AFAIK and I consider this to be the most important reason for upgrading. I do not understand what makes this problem suddenly appear for some users (as it did me!) - this is in the release notes fixes.

I am 99% certain that your patching problems are related - the symptoms are quite varied.

What do you mean by 'hang'? Is your board particularly old?
You need to see xFree% in the LCD display (extended memory)
Try downloading again and put on a different floppy - maybe one formatted in the console to be absolutely sure.
If you get a 'can't find file' error, you probably need to update the OS - no big deal though.
Note that when burning the new program there is quite a long delay after starting before it actually starts reading the disk - maybe 20secs?

Once the program is burned, you need to select option 1 (Wipeall) and then I recommend giving the desk a reset too, just to be sure.

I strongly suggest starting a new show from scratch at this point.
