Pearl 2004 v1 View freeze

Postby iadwm » 13 Jan 2005, 01:26

Has anyone noticed that the display freezes in view/fixture patch ?...The cursor arrows stop working, have to do a warm start to get things going again.

It seems to be randomly intermittent, more likely I just haven't noticed a sequence of repeated button presses.

Andy,

Yes, I have had this happen to me several times. I find that it happens more often when I am checking my fixture patch and scrolling madly with the arrow key. It freezes up and the only way I have found to unlock the view is to restart the console. I have tried turning the key to service but that doesn't work.

Hi Jim,

It's not exactly life threatening is it - just a little annoying! Plus it doesn't look that good, having to re-boot with the sound boys looking on... laughing...and pointing...

Just out of curiosity, are you using a new 2004 console or a 2000 with 2004 software?

Regards,

Andy

I have also experienced this problem. It only seems to happen in the DMX view and in Borris 2 desks.

If it does occur you do not need to re-set the desk, just press the view button twice. This should not be noticable to the sound boys.

Thanks Olie, is this an 'official' bug now?

As far as I can remember, the first time it happened I repeatedly pressed VIEW to try and get the screen to clear, but it didn't work. So that was why I used a re set and from the point on used re set . Should the problem reoccur, I will try the VIEW button again.

I have not had this problem with the new software. It was with the old 2000 builds. I did try the view button several times to no avail.

I have just discovered how this happens.

Set the LCD View to DMX.
Go into Unfold.
Exit out of Unfold.
Arrow keys no longer work.

This is not actually a bug though. When you enter Unfold the VDU view gets set to chase and so the arrow keys then get assigned to control this view. So when you exit out of Unfold the arrows are still controlling the chase view.

To get the arrows back to the LCD screen simply change the VDU View to "Stage Intensities".
