TT Loading show very slowly

My tiger touch as of lately seems to be taking for EVER to load a particular Show start file i have.
The PC boots in the same time. But the Loading of the Show file can take up to 10 min. and in some cases it Loads but is missing workspace Views in the touch workspace views section. which a re start will fix. but then taking yet another 10min.

The show file has a fair amount of fixtures,( roughly 50 intelligents and a couple dozen conventionals)
i usually keep the majority of the fixtures Parked. unti i roll out to a show. then i patch them accordingly.

I have several pages of virtual playbacks stored for each of the different fixtures types i have in the console. Most of these Playbacks Have Picture legends and so do the different fixtures Palettes.

This problem started after i Began to increase the overall size of the show file. I.e Playbacks and more Palettes.

I also recently started successfully using a USB Mouse/Keybored. we have even tried disconnecting the Mouse/keyboard on startup. it did not help.

I am curious if the High usage of "picture" legends could be the culprit to this Slowness ?

Picture legends is a reasonable theory.

How large is the file?

Have you tried loading this show into another desk or the simulator? It's not small, but not too big either.

If you don't mind, you may send me the showfile by email, and I can have a try.

Ok so here is the Update.

Re installed titan 5.0

the show file still Takes forever to load.
other show files i have Load quickly though.

so it is my assumption that its the particular show file and it must be corrupted or something.

i have some previous versions of the show file so i am going through them to try and find where it became corrupt.

Even on an i7 it takes 5+ minutes to load.

Removed a lot of the Picture Legends - which is a shame, it's real ART, man. Brought down filesize to 1.5 mb - but didn't change load time.

Will continue trying.

@ Sebastian: Have you looked at the log files after it has loaded? There might be some clues there, particularly if it is throwing a lot of exceptions.

Another idea might be to extract just the binary from the show and see if that will load. The very long load time suggests it could be falling back on the xml.

Thank you Nick - will send you the showfile; the picture legends are a fine piece of art. What I found is some palettes on the 'Groups and Palettes' window don't have a user number. Just deleting those palettes makes the startup much quicker, whilst moving to workspace or assigning user numbers doesn't help.

I guess something is wrong with those palettes. Since I am not exactly clear about how Chris uses all the palettes, now it's up to him whether deleting those makes any harm (there are plenty of palettes in the 'standard' windows, hence I believe the a.m. ones in the 'groups and palettes' window might not be in use at all)

It's throwing exceptions like they're going out of fashion. This is the kind of problem Simon lives for. I'll forward to him. He will be delighted.

Im am not sure how those palettes got there. maybe one of my techs unknowingly stored them.

I deleted them and that seems to be the trick.
Show loads in 30 seconds now :)

Thanks Guys you rock !

Thanks for the feedback - glad we got this sorted, was kinda lucky punch :D

For all those interested: my entry point was the Show Library window, just looking for anything suspicious - and palettes without user numbers are suspicious... So, yes, it was trial and error, no magic involved.

Essentially I don't believe palettes stored on the 'Palettes and Groups' window would break a show.

I'd be happy if Nick or Simon would post their findings.
