Riggers Remote on Pearl 2000 with 2004 s/w

Hopefully someone can help with this, I have a Pearl 2000 running 2004 (well July 05 release) software. I have the 4D tablet and riggers remote.

Under user settings set option 7 to G-tablet - the tablet works perfectly.
Put Option 7 to 'remote' and I can not get the remote to work.

I have just made a brand new control cable, even buying the specified 9538 - 8 core cable, connected pins 1,2,3,7,22,23,24 with screen linked on pin 7 and red + brown on pin 24 as per Avolites 'riggers remote' pdf file.

If I go into Program mode (as per manual indtructions), User Settings (AVO+C) change option 7 to remote, nothing happens when I press the blank white button on the remote.

Now while the remote is still connected, if change option 7 to G-tablet, the red LEDs on remote buttons = DIM, CHAN and the blank red button illuminate and stay on unless I unplug the cable, no matter what option 7 is set to.

I also have a DS20 remote option?? on option 7 of the User Settings, again this does not do anything.

Ive tried both 25 pin inputs on the remote and also checked the soldered joints on them - all seem fine.

Any ideas??

Thanks in advance.

I have since resolved the issue, the manual states after selecting 'remote' on the user settings, plug in the remote, and on the remote press the bottom left blank button and LEDs should flash (they dont on ours) then press 'exit' and enter '111' they should flash again - guess what - they dont.

However by selecting remote in the user settings, plugging in the remote, then pressing exit then 111 it all works!

So it's the pressing the bottom left blank button on the remote that was the problem?

Not too sure if there is a problem, as stated before the manual states:

To set up the stage remote, set the
console to Program mode. On the User
Settings menu, set option 7 to “Remote
Control” (hold down AVO and press
Softkey C to display the User Settings
menu). Plug in the remote. Press the
blank white key on the bottom left hand
corner of the remote, the LEDs should
flash. Press Exit, then 111. The LEDs
should flash again to say the remote is
enabled.

At no point during these keypresses do the LEDs flash on the remote, however, if I just select remote on the user settings menu, plug in the remote and press 'exit 111' it becomes active and works fine, not sure if this is a problem.
