HTP and LTP differences and applications

Hello,

I spent the day updating personalities on our consoles and I came across LED profiles that were identical except for being HTP or LTP. I understand the difference as it applies to Dimmer being HTP and color typically LTP. What are the differences and the applications of having a 3ch RGB HTP vs. a 3ch RGB LTP profile.

Thanks.

In the classic desks, it was possible to have other attributes than only the dimmer in HTP - and based on the application, e.g. for very smooth color mixing (e.g. for backdrops), it was not uncommon to use exactly this.

In Titan, this is not an option. Now, if you want to acchieve the same behavior, you're bound to use a 'reset' cue, and fader mode=2

I'd say the main reason for HTP on RGB in Classic is for when fixtures don't have their own dimmer. The HTP version provides a natively fadeable by fader solution as virtual dimmer is not available for this software.
However, this comes with compromise, not least a total limit of 240 HTP channels and potential performance issues the more you use.

In Titan you would use virtual dimmer.
