Randomizing Fixture Selection

I don't think that there's any way to randomize fixture selection with the touch of one button (if I'm wrong, please let me know). My main application for this would be to create subtle pulsing effects.

However, I thought of a way to fake it and I'm wondering if this is possible:

Suppose I have a 12 conventionals that I want to "randomize" into this pulsing random effect. What I normally do now, is punch in a random order of selection (ie 2, 10, 5, 8, 1, 6, 3, 12, 5, 7, 4, 9) and then save that as a group. This works decently, but it turns into just a 12 step pattern when I put an effect on the group and adjust the phase.

Is there a way to extend this fixture selection? Could I continue to select the same fixtures over and over to create more "steps?" For example, could I "randomly" select the same 12 fixtures 4 times in a row and have that saved into a group somehow?

Or, is there some other way to achieve what I'm looking for?

Thanks
